Cognitive Hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis, not even close. So, no, I won’t be putting you to sleep, or making you do anything silly.
Therapeutic hypnosis utilises everyday light trance states to help facilitate the change you want. You will be in complete control and aware of what is going on at all times.
If you’ve ever been engaged in a good book or driven a car and found you couldn’t recall the journey, a light trance is something you will already be familiar with,
Light trance states occur all the time. In fact the issue you are considering getting help with, is likely to be one of many trance states you find yourself in on a day to day basis.
We spend more time in a trance state than not. In therapy, we simply re-direct those trance states towards what is going to help you achieve your outcome.
Is it safe?
As discussed in the previous point, this type of hypnosis is very safe. Everyone experiences trance like state naturally, throughout the day.
However, there are some mental health conditions where it is advised that you do not undertake hypnotherapy or that we proceed with caution.
If you have any history of mental illness, suspect you may be experiencing any form of mental illness, or have been diagnosed with epilepsy, then please let me know during your initial consultation.
This will allow me to determine whether or not Cognitive Hypnotherapy is going to be suited to your needs.
How many sessions does it take?
The average person experiences positive change in around 6 sessions.
Success is as much determined by your effort and engagement in the process as it is by the work that I do.
I ask clients to be fully committed to the process and any tasks I may set them. So the numbers of sessions it may take to get the results you want will be based on the issue you want help with, your engagement in the process as well as the work that I do as your therapist.
Therefore no guarantees can be offered with regard to your success or how long it will take, only that I am committed to helping you resolve your issue in the shortest, most appropriate time possible and paced to suit you as an individual.
